Mitchell and Justin de Vries of greenough were recipients of the Queen’s Badge and the William Smith Award respectively for 2019. WA Governor Kim Beazley made the presentation.
Geraldton youngster Peter Davies was also presented with the same award as Justin.
The Queen’s badge is the highest award in the Boys Brigade.
Mitchell 19 is an apprentice electrician while Justin 17 is in his final year of Secondary School.
“The awards are great recognition of the boys and what they have achieved” Reverend Eion Simmons captain of the Geraldton Boys Brigade said.
“Over their time in the brigade, boys earn badges for various stages that they have reached. There is an increase in difficulty. Badges are given for different degrees of leadership and, among other things include bushcraft skills, scriptural knowledge, sport and involvement in the community”.
