13th WA Geraldton 2018 Report

The last 12 months have seen some changes in our company leadership. After 6 years of faithful service as Company Captain, Nic de Vries has stepped down serving in this capacity, as well as being OIC of the Senior Section. He continues to be involved as an officer with the Senior Section.
The Rev. Eion Simmons, who joined the company last year as the Company Chaplain has taken over the role of Company Captain.

Section Leadership:
Peter Shave, who joined the company last year as a helper in Seniors, has become the Seniors Section OIC. Jenni de Vries is continuing in her role as Juniors OIC, as is Cherith Milne as Anchors OIC.
We have also welcomed Belinda Overmeire this year as a helper, however, have lost Elliot Darbyshire.
I am very thankful for our leadership team, who are well organ-ised and long to see our children grow in their knowledge and love of God, and to live this out in our fallen world.

We have seen a small increase in numbers within our sections, with the anchors growing to 9, juniors to 19, and seniors to 10, with a mixture of boys and girls in all sections.

On ANZAC day the company marched in the local ANZAC day parade. We also had the privilege of the seniors acting as ushers for those laying wreaths. This was a great opportunity to honour those who laid down their lives for us in armed conflict, with a special part to play.
In October 2017 the Seniors undertook a successful 5 day level 3/5 Seniors’ expedition in Augusta. Our activities included camping, hiking, canoeing, caving, navigation exercises, and spent time each day thinking about “Being True” in our relationships with God and others.
In 2018 the seniors have been working through “The Bible Overview” course to gain a better grasp of how the Bible as a whole fits together and how each part relates to the rest. They have memorised the complete overview and started memorising memory verses for each part. We are currently half way through!
In May 2018 the Juniors and Anchors had a combined weekend camp/fun day in Northampton. The juniors camped for two nights and undertook daily devotions, messy games, bush walking, sing-a-long around the camp fire and sand boarding amongst other things. The anchors joined for the Saturday activities.
In Christ,
Eion Simmons
